What is Processless CTP Plate?

- Mar 18, 2019-

When the computer-to-plate technology is still in its infancy, experts predict that in the field of computer-to-plate technology, the final development direction of plate printing will be a plate that does not require chemical treatment at all, such as processless plate. In just a few years, chemical free CTP plate has existed from concept to reality. Among today's plate manufacturers, many have claimed to have process-free thermal-sensitive technologies such as Agfa, Creo, Konica Minolta, Fuji, Kodak Polychrome, Konita, Presstek and Toray, among them, Agfa, Fuji, Kodak, Konita, Presstek.

What is processless CTP plate? What advantages does it have? In a broad sense, after the plate is exposed and imaged on the plate-making machine, it can be mounted on the press without processing, thus saves users developer, processor, labor, electricity, water and etc. This is the real processless plate. In a narrow sense, chemical development is not required after the exposure of the plate. However, there will be individual non-chemical treatment steps, such as removal of the ablation residue of the plate material and application of protective glue. The advantages of the processless plate are: high production efficiency, no chemical development treatment, lower plate making cost, shorter plate making cycle, and no pollution to the environment.
